Statement of Values
Kein Morgen Games commits to prioritizing the following values in our games, events, and community management. It is expected that players keep these values in mind when interacting with the community and staff.
Safety & Consent: The physical, mental, and emotional safety of our players and staff will always be our highest priority. This is our responsibility as community leaders, but additionally, we believe fostering a safe and compassionate game-space is essential for allowing players to comfortably up the intensity of their game.
Collaborative Play: Our characters have goals they will pursue to varying degrees of success, however we expect our players to not think of “winning” and “losing” from an in-character perspective. The goal of our games is to collaboratively construct exciting, fun, and meaningful moments together as players. Kein Morgen is committed to creating and maintaining a constructive play space free of Off-Game competition.
Inclusion: If something is good, it is worth sharing with others, and there is nothing better than larp! Kein Morgen is committed to creating an environment where everyone who wants to play our games (and willing to follow our rules) feels warmly welcomed.
Communication: The three values listed above require a foundation of clear and honest communication from both staff and players. We are committed to both modeling healthy communication as staff, and mediating important conversations between players.
Consent and Boundaries
Players are required to obtain affirmative consent from the subject player for any instances of physical touch, feeding, or violence (this can include some instances of verbal violence, such as screaming or intense berating). This consent can be obtained through an out-of-character negotiation, either beforehand or in-the-moment. Details on how to explicitly negotiate scenes can be found in our Player’s Guide.
Consent to being the subject of touch, violence, or feeding can be revoked verbally at any time. If such a situation arises you are expected to communicate this clearly to your fellow players so they may respectfully recalibrate, or end the scene altogether if necessary.
If a player non-consensually initiates any of these topics (even if you were cool with it), please seek out a staff member or designated safety liaison to initiate a conversation between players. This is not a disciplinary hearing, it is an opportunity for us as players to check in with each other, address our needs, and get back on the same page.
Repeated patterns of ignoring, disregarding, or disrespecting player boundaries will be subject to staff inquiry and may result in expulsion from the game on the grounds of safety.
Content Limits
In this game we are playing monsters. Our characters will do things that are immoral. But to ensure the comfort and safety of our player base, there is some content that we do not allow to be role-played in game. Players found role-playing this material in game will warrant a discussion with staff and possible expulsion from the game.
Banned Content:
Explicit Sexual Violence
Harm to Children
Harm to Animals (exception: vague references to feeding on animals)
Direct Real-World Bigotry (use of slurs, stereotyping, discrimination against a real-world group, etc.)
Bleed
In larp, “bleed” refers to situations in which your character’s emotions and your personal emotions blend together. Bleed is completely natural, common, and can come in a wide variety of forms. Bleed is not inherently bad, but failing to recognize and process it can be dangerous.
Kein Morgen is committed to helping our players process their post-game emotions constructively so we can all land safe and sound: This includes always having designated off-game spaces and structured debriefing at the end of every game.
We encourage players to communicate with each other openly and honestly about how different in-game situations and relationships make them feel. If you yourself or another player is having difficulty clearly delineating their emotions and their character’s emotions, please contact a staff member to facilitate a conversation with the player in question.
Repeated patterns of uncontrolled bleed with clear off-game consequences will be subject to staff inquiry and may result in expulsion from the game on the grounds of safety.
Substance Use
Consumption of alcohol in moderate quantities is permitted at Kein Morgen games (so long as it is allowed in the venue). Consumption of other mind altering substances (before or during play) is not.
Excessive intoxication of any kind is not permitted, and will result in your expulsion from the game on the grounds of safety. To ensure this rule can be enforced, roleplaying as excessively intoxicated is also not permitted.
Age Restriction
All players in Kein Morgen games must be 21 years of age or older to participate. Certain exceptions may be made on a case by case basis for adults between the ages of 18 and 21 for specific events. Kein Morgen reserves the right to ask for identification to verify age and identity at game events.
Privacy
There are a lot of people in the world who may have a lot of different opinions about this game. Please do not reveal anyone’s presence at our games via the internet without that person’s explicit permission. This includes posting photos, social media tags, and named shoutouts.
Harassment
It is expected that players and staff treat each-other with respect and dignity. Off game harassment and abuse is not tolerated. Repeated patterns of disrespect, belittling, bullying, or other actions that erode the comfort of our game-space will result in expulsion from the game and community at large.
Respect This Sacred Land
Kein Morgen events will take place in a variety of different venues and locations. It is expected that all players and staff abide by the rules and regulations of whatever venue we are gathering in, as well as treat the space and staff of that venue with respect.
